The primary requirements for membership in the Kampfgruppe 272 is a genuine interest in history, a commitment to excellence, a desire to create an accurate impression, and Kameradschaft (comradeship).

All members of KG272 experience an atmosphere of camaraderie, interest, excitement and fun. If you have a passion for history, enjoy the outdoors, and would love to engage in a very challenging hobby, we would like to hear from you.

We participate in Living History Programs including public interpretations, historic films, and tactical events.

US Pacific Northwest

Our members primarily come from the US Pacific Northwest including Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, California and more. We are accepting members throughout the area, or anywhere that isn't too far for you. Most events take place in Oregon and Washington.

We have members in every major city in Oregon and Washington including Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Spokane, Portland, Salem, Eugene, Corvallis and dozens of other locations. Our most distant members come from as far away as British Columbia, California, Idaho and Montana.

Commitment to Excellence

Authenticity is our major focus and each event will have its own additional requirements, all depending upon the historical period we will be portraying.

Events occur in all terrain and weather conditions: deserts, forests, mountains, marshes, rain or snow. Physical fitness and the willingness to sleep outdoors is a requirement for safety and furthers our efforts for an accurate impression.

KG272 participates in six events a year.

Cost of Impression & Events

Cost for your impression can vary widely. How hard you search for deals and what you can find from other members all play a part. The basic infantry impression can be had for $1000 to $2000. However, we do have some loaner gear available. As a general rule you should have at least one new piece at each event, and after your first year have obtain all required items.

You should not obtain just anything however. Not everything is suitable for use, period appropriate or is just a waist of money. Before purchasing anything you should consult with an experienced unit member. Doing so will save you lots of time and money. Please don't just show at an event with a bunch of stuff you found on the Internet, as you may be asked not to use it. It is our opinion that any member with the wrong items cheapens the impression for everyone. Collecting your uniform and gear is also a lot of fun and extremely informative. Our members will make every effort to help you find the right stuff at the best prices.

Each event also has a small fee to cover the cost of billeting, water and other site amenities. This is normally $25 per event. Additionally there is a yearly insurance fee of $25-$30.
