272nd Tactical Event
August 8-10, 2008
Evergreen Air Museum
McMinnville, Oregon
This
a PUBLIC event and everyone is welcome to mingle, learn, and
watch the battles. It will be held at the Evergreen Air Museum in
McMinnville, Oregon. The Air Museum house many notable aircraft
including the famous Spruce Goose as well as many modern and WWII
aircraft such as the P-40N Warhawk, German Messerschmitt Bf 109, Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, and more.![]() Still the largest plane ever constructed, the Spruce Goose was originally designed to ferry Allied troops and material to Europe in an attempt to counter the Axis submarine threat. The 272nd is expecting opposition from the US 82nd Airborne, 352nd Glider Troop, 1st Infantry Division "Big Red One," the Soviet RKKA, and quite possible more! The 272nd will also be bringing our newest crew served weapon, a German 8cm Medium Mortar. Scenario |
| Theme
for the event is mid-late war Germany, with battles ranging from after
D-Day to the Eastern Front. We will be portraying the average German
infantryman and not any particular unit, 272nd in Normandy after D-Day and the 216th in
Russian during the Battle of Kursk. |

| For 272nd members, sleeping
accomidations will be provided by your Wolfgrahügel. Bring all
necessary gear in particular your Zehlt, Blankets, Great Coat, and warm
clothes for cold nights. The weather is usually very nice this time of
year but be prepared for chilly nights and the possibility of showers. This is a public event and all members are expected to maintain the highest standards and composure at all times. In addition to the normal battle gear, you may also bring additional items to display or for public demonstration. |
