Kriegstat 44 - Our Members page outlines part of the 1944 platoon organization (Infanteriedivision 44 n.A.) The Mortar Gruppe is the late '43 organization. On D-Day the Regiment contained the Command Staff, three Zug (platoons), the M.G. Gruppe, and support troop.

Victory Was Beyond Their Grasp With the 272nd Volks-Grenadier Division from the Huertgen Forest to the Heart of the Reich by Douglas E. Nash 2008 This book was just published and is an outstanding read. The book provides you with an analysis of the late war Volksgrenadier experiment from the frontline service of the 272nd VGD, from creation to dissolution in April 1945.	Die 216./217. Niedersächsische Infanterie-Division 1939-1945 by Martin Jenner 1964 This book is the only available printed history on the 216./272. It is also entirely in German. A copy can sometimes be obtained through the national library system, and I once saw a copy for sale on the internet from a rare book dealer for about $250.
